Rising Sun Over Marrakech

This Fruit Platter for serving or for display will liven up your table. Pair it with the complete collection.

Materials: Stoneware and glazes.
Colours: Green & white - the overlap of the two colours reveal a magic blue line.

Inspired by ceramicist, Estelle LITTAYE's trip to Morocco in the heart of winter, this collection is a celebration of the warm colours of Marrakech: the pink-beige clay of the houses and the green palm tree.

Estelle's work is based on inventing shapes and colours to create everyday buy unique tableware.

Each piece is made on the potter's wheel in two stages: throwing and trimming. After a few weeks of drying, the piece undergoes a first firing at 980°C for 24 hours. After the kiln has cooled, the pieces are glazed one by one and then undergo a second firing, this time at 1280°C. The pieces are then given their final appearance and are sanded to regain the softness of the clay.

All Estelle LITTAYE items are HANDMADE. Therefore pieces will show traces of charming imperfections of the making process. Each piece is unique and organically shaped. Each design is similar but no two pieces are shaped the same nor are they evenly shaped. Even the same pieces in the same colour will have some variations depending on the handling & glaze application.

There will be slight variations from the photo to the actual delivered product. Each piece is unique with subtle differences in glaze thickness, colour, shape, design, and size. Variations, rather than being ‘imperfect’ or ‘flawed’, provide unique qualities inherent in handcrafted ceramics and should not be seen as a fault or defect.

Please review our return policy on handcrafted items before placing your order.

Please note the colours + design displayed online may vary slightly from the actual product delivered. Please read the "Perfectly Imperfect" tab below.

Made in Montreal, Quebec.

*Each platter is sold individually.

Estelle LITTAYE

Estelle is a French ceramicist based in Montreal.
At her workshop, in the Petite Patrie district, she explores shapes and materials.

All the moments spent at home - from the most insignificant to the most essential - deserve their touch of originality. So Estelle creates ceramic home goods whose shape, texture and colour have been chosen to bring the touch of cheerfulness that sometimes lacks in our daily life. She likes to play with must-have home goods to make them unique and endearing. Estelle makes it a point of honour to make each piece as practical as it is aesthetic.

Estelle's creations are handcrafted and handmade. She mainly uses the technique of wheel throwing but also likes handbuilding. She loves the raw aspect of the clay associated with the infinite colours of glazes. The variety of colours and textures that stoneware offers makes it her favourite clay. To best control the final output of the pieces, Estelle imagines and creates her own glazes.
